“Form Follows Beauty” was one of the statements used by Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer to separate himself from the “Form Follows Function” concept of North American functionalist architecture. The beauty he referred to was that of the female body, whose curves and shape he stated that he obtained most of his inspiration from at the time of creating. This only fact became a cornerstone for the development of Modern Architecture, as Niemeyer himself proved in one of the most ambitious projects ever finished – the integral design and construction of the city of Brasilia.
